- Using LEKOLEKO is so easy it almost needs no explanation if
- you are already familiar with GEM on the ST and lighting design
- for theatre. The following instructions will show you how to use
- the program to try out some of its features.
-
-
- Requirements:
- You must have a mono monitor and 1 meg of memory. It may
- run on a 520 but it will have severe memory limitations and may
- crash. The demo will not let you save or print, shop order is
- not working, and the demo will stop after 10 minutes. Everything
- else works.
- When you use this program, think how much time you are
- saving and how convenient it is to use.
-
- Run the program and pull down the POSITION menu. Click on
- "Ground Plan". This is where you position Electrics, Booms and
- Ladders. The position in feet and inches is constantly shown on
- the upper left of the screen. Make sure "ELECTRIC" is hilighted
- at the top of the screen. Click on it to hilight it if it's not
- hilighted. Now simply click where you want to position the
- electric. In the dialogue box that appears 40 is the default
- length. Click OK. There's your electric. An electric must be
- placed before a ladder can be positioned. A ladder can only be
- positioned at the end of an electric.
- To position a boom, click on "BOOM" at the top of the screen.
- Make sure "ADD" is hilighted at the top. If you are left of the
- middle of the screen the booms for stage RIGHT will be positioned
- on the left of the screen, if you are right of the center of the
- screen booms for stage LEFT will be positioned on the right of
- the screen. The actual position is again shown in feet and
- inches. The default height of a boom is 12 ft. Put one boom on
- each side of the stage.
- Now click the right mouse button and you will exit the
- ground plan screen. The right mouse will exit most screens. If
- you get lost or confused try right mouse clicks to return to a
- menu. Pull down the POSITION menu once more and click on
- "Lights". Now you have a choice to position lights on the
- electric, the boom, or front of house. Front of house(FOH) is
- pre-drawn for all shows. Click on "FOH" and then on "ADD" to add
- a light.
- This is the FOH screen. The top positions are the
- Balcony Rail (BR) and Coves 1 to 3 (C1,C2,C3). In the middle on
- the bottom are the follow spots. The other bottom positions are
- box booms. Each tiny square on the box booms is a position for a
- light. When the mouse is above the electrics on the top the
- horizontal position is constantly shown in feet and inches from
- the center. Click in the center of the Balcony Rail (the top
- position), when the numbers on the left show 0'0".
- The dialogue box that appears lets your choose which light
- or use a macro for your light selection. Choose "LEKO". The
- Leko dialogue box comes up. Make whatever selections you want
- for the attributes of the light. The dimmer, channel, and circuit
- fields should be numbers only. If you choose "Other" for watts
- that should be a number also. Click OK when done. The light
- appears at the position 0'0" Balcony Rail.
- To copy this light anywhere on the FOH, right click to exit
- then click on COPY at the top of the screen. Then select the
- light by clicking on it. The dialogue box showing its
- characteristics comes up. (If you don't want to see the dialogue
- box before copying, moving or deleting, hold down the Alternate
- key while clicking on the light.) Click OK. Now click on any
- other positions (except FOLLOW SPOTS) including box booms and
- they will appear. Make sure you put more than one light on an
- electric and a box boom and watch them renumber automatically.
- You can now place other kinds of lights using the same method.
- Remember to right click to exit.
- To position lights on electrics, click on "ELEC" and for
- booms click on "BOOM". The procedures are exactly the same.
- After you have placed some lights on the electric return to the
- ground plan by exiting back to the main menu. Click on
- "Ground Plan" in the POSITION menu. Click on "ELEC" and "COPY".
- Select an electric, then copy it to another position. All the
- lights go along with it and are renumbered to that new position.
- Copy it upstage and downstage to see the renumbering. The booms
- can be copied the same way.
- Return to the main menu. Try listing schedules. Pressing
- ESC exits a list.
- Clicking on "Edit Pos Sch" lets you edit all the
- characteristics you put in on one screen.
- To print a copy of any screen pull down the "PrtPlot" menu.
- Choose one. If your printer will not make a decent copy of a
- screen dump, print to disk and then load the file into any
- program (DEGAS elite, for example)that will show a mono DEGAS
- format picture. Here you can print it and you can embellish it
- with comments or further drawings.
-
- It's hard to believe so much can be done so easily, but this
- program does it for you. It's a machine that does most of the
- tedious repetitious work for you.
